| The explosion in technological advances in computer science, in hardware(computer equipment) and software (the development of an unlimited and as yet incalculable/ inestimable variety of applications) Hardware is increasing the speed of computers at an exponential rate, while software is being applied to a very large number of problems, formerly considered intractable. These developments are occuring at a furiously fast pace and changing the landscape in which we are born, we are nurtured and where we live. |
 A nation no longer needs to actually conduct a nuclear explosion, it can simulate the same on its computers. The flawless designing of machines, components, the architecture of buildings, the mapping of the human genome in the cell, are leading to a better quality of life for all. And these are just minor examples of the incredibly complex tasks, which earlier took months and years , but are now done in seconds and minutes, or at the most, just a few hours with the aid of computer. The world acknowledges the contribution of Indias computer engineers in each and every one of these achievements. |
| Computer Science and engineering is a major part of the information and communication technology sector, which is bringing evolutionary changes in our societies, entertainment system and industrial applications. The importance and speed of these technologies are on the rise, encompassing all aspects of human activities. Computer science engineering can design and develop applications as diverse as aircraft control systems to high- tech play stations. Many students find employment even before completing the degree. The Computer Science & Information Technology Department has an active focus in two specific and critical areas of modern computational education (i) Open Source Software and Technology Focus and (ii) Blended (Activity Centric) Learning. Linux and FLOSS are two areas that have become the foundation of our Computational Laboratory Environment. In the Department E-learning is being promoted to supplement classroom education. The Department has 6 labs with approx 250+ machines totalling an average computational power of about 4Lakh MIPS and about 400GB of Dynamic Memory. The laboratories are having state of the art Programming Environments like GCC, JVM, Python, Perl and PHP, Web Application Technologies like JavaScript, HTML,CSS and Database Backend Technologies like MySQL, PostgreSQL in addition to Microsoft Access. The students of the department is undertaking the software engineering projects like (i)Hospital Database System (ii)Simulation of a Computer (iii)Video Game using simple Programming Constructs (iv)Emulation of Standard Data Structures – Array, Stack, Queues and Linked Lists etc. Workshops and Seminars are organized on emerging and innovative technologies. The program aims at providing education in data processing, computer communication, networking programming in language, multimedia, microprocessors, peripheral interface design, artificial intelligence, simulation ERP and software tools. |

Computer Science engineering graduates have excellent employment prospects and may be employed in computer design & development, IT infrastructure, defence applications, health care system, communication network internet development, job may include R& D, system management, image processing, tracking & surveillance, biomedical engineering etc.
